Trail Conditions

What are the current conditions
of Las Horquetas Circuit?

Estado del sendero

Updated on 7/11/2022:

The trail Estero Parada is open along with the campsites Porteadores and Neozelandes. These areas currently do not have snow and are available for day hikes or overnight camping trips. The trail to the Cerro Castillo Lake is also open, but there is snow on the route and conditions can be slippery or dangerous without adequate footwear and trekking poles.

The trail head of Las Horquetas and Peñón Pass are currently closed. There is still a significant amount of snow in the pass as well as heavy snow has caused avalanches and areas of the trail to be washed out or covered in fallen trees. Many bridges have been washed out and we hope to have this trail open later this season when the conditions improve and trail work has been made.
